The Unlikely Bookworm

Bondi Farmers Market

For me, my perfect Saturday morning would start with some early morning reading and a hot cup of tea, followed by a ninety-minute hot yoga class at Power Living, before heading to Bondi Farmers Market for brunch and a catch up with friends.

I was first introduced to the farmers market by my friend Ally, who was aghast at my not having yet been, despite living in Bondi for almost a month at that point. After my first visit I was hooked; enticed by not only the tasty corn fritters  – an Aussie version of a fry-up that has abated many-a-hangover – but also the vibrant atmosphere, live music, and abundance of food offerings. From the sweetest of chai teas, to the juiciest hunks of watermelon, to homemade coconut yoghurt and the famous farmer’s feat, Bondi’s Farmers Market is a foodie’s dream with choice-a-plenty, whatever you fancy.

As well as ample fresh food on offer, there are also preserves and condiments available to buy – from home-made honey, to oils and artisan vinegars –  as well as handcrafted wine and locally grown flowers.

The green space offers the perfect picnic spot in which to enjoy the sunshine and catch up with friends, while basking in the sunshine and enjoying the live music. Whether you live in Bondi or beyond, for me there’s no better way to kickstart my weekend than with a visit to this beachside gem.
