The Unlikely Bookworm

My Second Month as a Book Blogger

Book blogger

And so, as February begins my second month as a book blogger, so too does another challenge and I returned home this evening with a weighty load and a somewhat lighter purse to begin my second book quest of the year. For my first month as a book blogger, I set myself the challenge to review a book every day for a month; a feat that reawakened my love for books, but also one that left me with little time to read. After many recommendations and, of course, taking into account the length of each book and the time in which I have to read them, I have chosen the five books from the BBC’s Big Read which I hope to tick off my list this month. They are:

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahld

Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

On the Road by Jack Kerouac

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

I’m hoping that I haven’t over-anticipated my capacity for reading and am really looking forward to conquering five of the nation’s best loved books. Whether I enjoy them and indeed, whether I manage to read my way through all five in the next four weeks remains to be seen but here goes…

As always, please feel free to leave comments, suggestions and book recommendations!

So glad you’ve got Cold Comfort Farm. It’s a perennial favourite of mine, which I revisit often. She wrote several other books, but they’ve only just come back into print; some enlightened editor has rediscovered the charm of her writing. It sounds as if you have enough reading for a while, but when you do finally run out, I have an armful of books to recommend!

Well I heard on good authority that it was a very good read! I’ll let you know how I get on with it. I’m also reading a newly released book called The Crown and I’ll be interviewing the author for my blog so I have an enormous amount of reading this month but will let you know when I have a gap! xx

Sounds like a great reading list. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on my “books to blog about” list for this month. It was one of my favorite reads as a kid. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them all!
